However if someone is shooting at them without the aim assist they will have more control over where the shot lands. Since the funnel/magnet affect exists on any shots aimed at someone they'll be used to seeing them at launch and beginning a dodge. Most players are probably going to be defined as 'skilled' in part on their ability to anticipate shots and angle to avoid them. And if you're aimed at an island, but a ship beyond the island is targeted, the game knows to fire at the more distant target, (hopefully) arcing over the island. So, if you aim high on a ship you have targeted, the game knows to fire at an angle that will hit that point, not some point in the sea beyond. About the only thing I see it doing is helping with intervening obstacles. As this autorange point is the target range, as long as my lead is good (which is easy for a stationary target).HIT.It doesn't really help with lead either. So instead of my shots hitting the mountain side (where reticle is sitting), the shots will follow a trajectory to hit at the auto range point. As long as the target remains locked (sighted by friendlies), the game engine will AUTO RANGE to the target. As my LOS is blocked, I cannot actually place it on the target, but must put it in the target direction.on the mountain side. If the target is sitting still, than I just put the reticle on the target.

If my line of site to a target is blocked by a mountain but the target is spotted (by another team mate) and I lock the target. I was just in a game playing my Benson, sitting behind a mountain while spamming HE at a reversing NC, but somehow he was able to land a hit on me when i am not visible and sitting behind a huge chunk of rock, a position that is blocking his aim unless he has a spotting plane.\
